How to Create a Fragment Type in Usable
Overview
Creating custom fragment types lets you extend the classification system to match the specific needs of your team or project.
1. Open the Workspace Settings
- Go to the Workspace you want to edit (e.g., Usable Public).
 - Select Settings → Fragment Types.
 
2. Add a New Type
- Name – e.g., 
FAQorPolicy. - Description – brief sentence on its purpose.
 - Icon & Color – choose an icon and a colour that will appear on cards.
 - Default Tags – optional tags that auto‑apply to every fragment of this type.
 
3. Set Permissions (optional)
- Restrict who can create this type (e.g., only Admins for 
Policy). 
4. Save & Test
- Click Save; the new type appears with the chosen icon/color.
 - Create a test fragment using the new type to confirm the UI and tags.
 
5. Use the New Type
- When adding a fragment, select the new type from the dropdown.
 - The system will treat it according to the metadata you defined (search weighting – more relevant results, visual cues, etc.).
